The Hartsdale Public Parking District Board of Commissioners and Staff would like to thank everyone that attended the October 30th Public Hearing. We recognize that the time you all took out of your day to meet with us and to discuss your concerns and suggestions was valued time.
The Board, heard your comments and wants to express to you all, that our goal is to ensure that our parking facilities are well maintained and that our users understand and benefit from the maintenance and improvements we have made and will continue to make.
During the meeting, The Board of Commissioners stressed the importance of being fiscally responsible. In previous years, increases were lower, and met the district’s needs. The income generated from this years permit rate increase is going towards funding major repairs made in 2018, those scheduled to take place in 2019, and to replenish the reserve fund. In anticipation of the required repairs the Board has been funding the reserve fund annually. Unfortunately, due to the economy and prevailing wage rates, the cost of the recent and proposed future repairs came in at a price which was almost double what had been anticipated. After careful negotiations, the Board was able to revise the proposals and to schedule the work over a two-year period. The increase in permit rates for 2019 are necessary to meet the financial needs of the District and have been approved by a vote of the Board of Commissioners.
Going forward, we will continue to address and maintain the financial integrity and the stability of the District. We will continue to work diligently to control costs and to keep our permit costs as low as possible. We will continue to properly maintain and improve our parking areas and to keep the Hartsdale Public Parking District financially sound.
We would also like to notify you that we will shortly be implementing a credit card payment system for the parking meters. A notice will be posted as soon as the system is up and ready to run.
We are also investigating the ability to utilize an online application process that would make the permit application process less cumbersome. We hope to implement an updated processing program sometime next year.
We wish all our users a Happy and Healthy Holiday Season
